Nike Sportswear is known for their avant garde approach to sneaker design, everything from out-there models like the Air Footscape and Foamposite series to the undeniable mark they’ve left on the past half-decade with the introduction of modular hybrid design.  The latest is a pretty good example of how to make a mashup, the latest Nike WMNS Air Baked Mid going the Motion route with a Free-grooved sole, and adding to its elastic-secured upper the kind of mudguard we’ve also seen applied to the Air Max 85 ‘Duckboot’.  This makes for one of the more interesting ladies sneakers we’ve seen in all of 2011, but are they indeed the best Air Baked release so far?  Click through for a better look at two duckboot-borrowing pairs and stick with Sneaker News for word on the release date.  via Tenisfuki

The New Balance 574 recently became available for online customization and we figure a color combination like the one you see above would be a popular choice. Grey suede uppers has been a 574-staple for years and years, but now you can add an extra splash of color here and there thanks to New Balance’s long-overdue custom options, but if you don’t want to spend upwards of $120 for a pair of 574s, these general releases should suffice. It’s got a blue secondary trim with just the right amount of red on the tongue label, so hit up Finishline for a new pair because they just became available for purchase.

The Nike Air Max 85 Low ‘Year Of The Rabbit’ was one of the best releases of 2011 and certainly one of the more memorable AF1 outputs in a long while. But 2011? That’s old Nike Free Trainer 3.0 news! Here’s a peek at 2012′s Nike Air Max 85 Low ‘Year Of The Dragon’; it features a tonal black upper constructed in a luxurious satin-like material with dragon detailing stealthily surrounding the upper. The midsole is also a solid white, and appears to be wrapped with leather for that ‘Supreme’ effect. Another interesting note is the new box, labeled AF1-XXX, signifying the 30th A5ersary of the Nike Air Max 85, the historic basketball shoe that laid the groundwork for the most successful line of basketball performance footwear.
