As synthetic materials have become the default for cutting edge performance models, we’ve seen leather and otherwise de-tech’d casual styles release toward the end of many product cycles. The Air Max+ flagship ruing series is likely the most prominent example of this trend, but maybe we’ll one day associate that shift even more strongly with the Free Run lineup. That’s because just a few strides out the gate, the Nike Free Run+ 3 is already maximizing its casual appeal with suede and mesh designs reminiscent of golden era ruers, this black and Neutral Grey edition an answer to that black/white Free Run 2 from 2011 that proved its timelessness this spring. Aside from Nike-style takeovers, it’s unprecedented for sneaker companies to collaborate with one another, and while the above pictured model isn’t exactly a Gourmet x Nike team-up, it’s as close as we’ve ever seen before.  That’s because Nike SB rider Paul Rodriguez’ retail spot Primit5e has gotten up with Jon Buscemi and co. to create this new Primit5e x Gourmet Quadici for next spring.  The links to Nike Inc. get even stronger when you realize the patent leather mudguard section on these plus a blue tongue tag and icey outsole indicate that this is an homage to the Air Free Run XI Nike Footscape Free ‘Space Jam’, a fitting theme g5en Gourmet’s early ‘Ape Free Run’ days.  Click through to see more angles and let us know what you think about the sneaker scene’s newly smaller world.  via HB

 

Haroshi made his mark on the sneakerhead scene in late 2010 when Mark Parker was photographed holding the Nike Dunk High crafted from Nike Free Run 5.0 V3 the Japanese artist’s medium of coicee: stacked and carved skateboard decks.  This signature multicolor ministripe motif has now carried over into what’s gotta be HUF’s best non-Nike collaboration to date, and one that shows that Keith Hufnagel’s namesake label is still up and ruing strong despite the closure of their Cali storefonts.  This project brings HUF and Haroshi together with Bay Area skateboard distributors DLX triple up to bring us some crazy sculptures along with the HUF Hufnagel Pro Nike LunarGlide 5 with an impress5e insole, along with a variety of apparel celebrating DLX’s various brands.  Click through to see more of the Hufnagel Pro, including its Real Skateboards tie-in on the heels, and grab your selections straight from HUF before they’re all gone.
