Dwight Howard’s ‘Superman’ alter ego takes form in the Nike TS Beast, Howard’s newest signature shoe with Nike. The upper features a m6.0 of white and soft carolina blue with Superman insignia on the tongue as well as the bottom translucent sole. The medial panel features illustrations of Superman’s lair the ‘Fortress of Solitude’ with imagery of the ice-like crystals thrusting upwards from the ground. Nothing like a heap of NCAA Feet on-court fire to get your week going. NCAA players nationwide have displayed their attention to sneaker detail quite well, and it’s always the usual suspects that bring the most to the table. Syracuse, San Diego State, and UCo are always rockin’ some fresh heat, and the trio of LeBron-outfitted schools have their own Nike LeBron 9 PE’s to show off. One of the biggest headlines of yesterday’s news was the first look at the Nike Air Pey V the alleged fifth signature sneaker of the Air Pey line that was discontinued after the Air Pey 5 (until the revelation of the Air 1/2 Cent in 2009). Many have praised the shoe for its 90′s-style design motifs, as it opts for wavy lines and bulbous-y midsoles rather than the jagged, tech look of the Hyperdunk, Kobe, and other Eric Avar classics. This new side-profile shot of the Nike Air Pey V reveals once more the ribbed midsole with what appears to be a newly-designed visible Max Air unit, a pinstriped tongue, and what appears to be a lightweight Hyperfuse-like material on the upper. It’s clear that the Air Pey V was designed in mind of a true continuation of the Air Pey legacy rather than as a contemporary 2012+ shoe, bringing a level of old-school ideas to Nike’s current push of technology and hgh-performance engineering. Nike Sportswear’s tortured us before with its Nike Free Run 3 Foamposite fiasco of late May/early June, and they’re about to ruffle a few more feathers. NSW just recently updated its Twitter account with a simple message: “Looks like Kanye West is on twitter again. Maybe we should do some kind of collaboration with that guy.” Obviously Nike’s already teamed up with Kanye West before, resulting in last year’s Nike Air Yeezy number 2 on Sneaker News’ Top 30 of 2009. So what can we make of Nike Sportswear’s comment? An iocent inside joke of some sort, or perhaps a hint into something absolutely monumental? Could we have a Nike Air Yeezy 2 in the works, or perhaps more colorways of the original Nike Air Yeezy? Perhaps we are reading too much into the “tweet” but there’s no denying a Yeezy 2 would cause a mass alert in the sneaker world. What do you guys think?
