Two of Nike Basketball’s most eccentric designs of the mid-90s was, of course, attributed to Deis Rodman. The Shake NDestrukt and the Darwin were undoubtedly floating around the outer limits of conventional design, with the Air Darwin featuring the reverse Swoosh, boot-like build, and unique Max Air window (actually a triplet of small blocks). Both Darwin and Shake NDestrukt retued in 2012 with revamped designs, but if you weren’t feeling the grey/orange or grey/cyber colorways of the Air Max Darwin 360, perhaps this new White/Green/Black colorway might be easier to stomach. It is, in fact, closest to the original colorway from ’94, but the Max Air window has changed just a tad, hasn’t it? Kobe will need to bounce back against the Thunder for Game 2 if he wants to keep this series competitive because thus far, the Thunder have the Lakers outmatched in almost every category. But don’t underestimate the Black Mamba, who has demonstrated a killer instinct and can become one of the most unstoppable forces from time to time. Kobe’s been bouncing back and forth between the Kobe VII Supreme and the higher-grade Elite in the Playoffs, but perhaps he’ll go with this Saturday’s release of the Concord/Cool Grey to mix it up a bit. The Lakers are indeed in dire need for some change, so hopefully a wardrobe change is all Kobe needed to get a different outlook on the game. 2012 has been a huge year as far as bringing back some OG Reebok basketball styles.
