Aside from the occasional high-energy colorway that tied in with Mardi Gras and the festive New Orleans vibe, the Jordan CP3 line has been relatively subdued until now. Sneaker News broke the story of the Jordan CP3.V ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ Pack back in January, which was originally set to be a two-pair set depicting Chris Paul’s dual personality the off-the-court jovial Chris Paul and the on-the-court menacing aggressor Chris Paul. Both colorways of the Jekyll & Hyde Pack are inverted colorways of one another, so while they both seem like two different shoes, that are indeed of the same origin. The official release date for this unique CP3 release is set for Wednesday, May 9th, so check out the official Jordan Brand images below and we’ll keep you updated with more information.

After 2011 came to a close, we figured the Air Jordan III would be laid to rest for some time, but not two years later, the Air Jordan III pops its head out once again. The February 2013 release of the Black/Bright Crimson has stirred up some discussion from our readers, with responses both praising the fresh new take on ‘Black/Red’ while others disparaging it for that same reason. In either case, the Bright Crimson Air Jordan III is one to keep an eye out for, so check out this fresh new gallery and we’ll keep you updated as we near the February 2013 Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 scheduled launch.

Instagram just underwent a significant overhaul and its “Fast beautiful photo sharing” tagline has never been more true. You’ve gotta believe that a company Facebook valued at over a billion dollars did their due diligence and worked through tons of user feedback before they implemented the elegant new design, and it seems that adidas is doing something similar utilizing that very service. Three Stripes’ Instagram account posted an image with a note that “Basketball players wore these in the early 90′s,” but one need look no longer than the ’55′s and ‘Mount Mutombo’ on the tongue tag to realize it was actually just one guy. The adidas Mutombo released during the 1992-93 season and brought together one of the NBA’s most unique personalities with the explosion of hip-hop culture and their shared African influences. Their patte-heavy upper is the kind of thing we’ve seen from Jeremy Scott’s ObyO capsule as well Nike Free Powerlines as 2010′s ‘Bin 23′ Air Jordan VII; should adidas add another to that list of tribal throwbacks with a Mutombo retro release? From the upcoming Hyperfuse followup to the series that laid the Hyper- foundation in just a few hours, Sneaker News takes you further into Nike Basketball’s plans for the second half of 2012 with another look at an upcoming performance marvel. The Nike Lunar Hyperdunk brings Flywire to the surface and replaces the familiar Zoom Air cushion, this navy and red pair reminding us that a white panel beneath those cords would make for one heckuva USAB player exclusive. That pair of Lunar Hyperdunks has been getting the most attention so far and we all remember the impact of the original on the 2008 Beijing Games; might this new navy/red edition have a say in who gets the gold come August in London? Let us know when you’re on the other side scoping out some more shots and stick with Sneaker News for all the Hyperdunk 2012 release info. Photos: ak
